The WISEWOMEN initiative aligns with the national priorities established by the Women’s Health Research, Translation and Impact Network (WHRTN). These themes guide our work in addressing key areas of need and opportunity in women’s health across Australia.
Our focus areas include:
Preconception, pregnancy, postpartum and intrapartum health of women and babies
This area focuses on enhancing health outcomes for women and their babies throughout the reproductive journey. It encompasses research and initiatives aimed at improving care during preconception, pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, ensuring comprehensive support for maternal and neonatal health.
These themes serve as the foundation for our research, collaboration, and translation efforts to improve health outcomes for women nationally.
Each category above should be linkable, directing users to a dedicated webpage that highlights:
- The theme lead(s)
- Key research activities and outputs
- Collaborators and partner organisations
- Relevant resources or publications
WISEWOMEN organises its work around nine core themes of women’s health, based on the nationally recognised WHRTN categories. These themes reflect the most critical and diverse areas impacting women’s lives—physically, mentally, and socially.
On this page, you’ll find a dedicated section for each theme. Within each, we showcase:
- Evidence synthesis research relevant to that area
- Lead researchers and contributors driving the work
- Collaborating institutions and networks
- Opportunities to connect, contribute, or learn more
This structure allows you to explore the depth of research being done in South Australia, understand who is leading it, and see where the gaps and opportunities lie.
